For most birthday parties and showers, 2 hours covers arrival through cake and toasts. Larger events or celebrations with multiple phases — like a ceremony followed by a reception — benefit from 3-4 hours. We will talk through your timeline and I will recommend what makes sense.
I keep it minimal. If there are specific group shots you want — the whole family, the friend group, the team — I will organize those at a natural break in the event. Otherwise, the focus is on real moments. No pulling people away from the celebration for forced lineups.

Sacramento photographs well year-round. Spring (March–May) brings blooming trees and warm light along the American River Parkway and Capitol Park. Fall (October–November) offers golden foliage at Land Park and along the river. Summer works if you shoot during the golden hour window — the hour before sunset — to avoid harsh midday heat. Most locations are centrally accessible. Capitol Mall, Old Sacramento, and Tower Bridge all have nearby public parking lots off 3rd Street and Front Street.
