Weddings photography in Sacramento
Intimate weddings in Sacramento are filled with personal touches that larger celebrations often miss. Whether it is a backyard ceremony, a courthouse elopement, or a gathering at a venue near the Capitol building, Tower Bridge, and Old Sacramento waterfront, Angie documents every detail — the nervous hands before the first look, the happy tears during the vows, the first dance under string lights. Sacramento County's Midtown murals, Land Park gardens, and the Sacramento River provide a stunning natural backdrop for golden-hour portraits. Coverage runs 4-6 hours and is timed to capture every phase from getting ready to the final toast. A pre-wedding planning call ensures the timeline accounts for the moments that matter most to you. With street parking and public lots near Capitol Mall and Old Sacramento nearby, guests and vendors arrive easily. The full gallery of 200-400 edited images arrives in 4-6 weeks — a complete documentary record of the day.
What is small weddings?
Small wedding photography is documentary-style coverage of intimate ceremonies and celebrations with fewer than 50 guests, including courthouse elopements, backyard weddings, and micro-weddings at Northern California venues. Captured By Angie provides 4-6 hours of coverage capturing every phase of the day — getting-ready details, ceremony emotions, reception candids, and golden-hour portraits. A pre-wedding planning call ensures the timeline accounts for key moments like the first look, vows, first dance, and toasts. Popular Sacramento-area venues include Vizcaya in midtown, winery estates in Lodi, foothill barns in Placerville, and the Sacramento County Courthouse for elopements. Deliverables include 200-400 individually edited images with a 4-6 week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. Photographer Angie Shvaya takes a quiet, observational approach, moving through the day without interrupting it so couples can stay fully present with their guests. Coverage extends throughout Sacramento and Northern California, from downtown venues to Gold Country estates.

Small Weddings FAQ
Generally under 50 guests, but there is no strict cutoff. Elopements with just the two of you, courthouse ceremonies with a handful of witnesses, backyard parties with 40 friends — all of these fall into the intimate wedding category. The approach is documentary: I capture the day as it unfolds.
Yes — Sacramento County Courthouse weddings are some of my favorites. They are quick, emotional, and real. I typically cover 1-2 hours for a courthouse ceremony plus portraits nearby. Tower Bridge and Capitol Park are a short walk away for golden-hour photos afterward.
I have shot at venues throughout Sacramento and Northern California — from Vizcaya in midtown to winery estates in Lodi and foothill barns in Placerville. I am happy to share recommendations based on your guest count, budget, and style. Just ask during our planning call.
Your call. I personally love first looks because they create an intimate, private moment and take pressure off the ceremony. But if you prefer to see each other for the first time at the altar, we will build the timeline around that. Either way, you get both candid and portrait-style images.
About photography in Sacramento
The Capitol building and Tower Bridge are iconic for dramatic backdrops. Midtown's mural alleys catch beautiful reflected light in the afternoon. Land Park and the Sacramento River trail offer natural, green settings year-round. For golden hour, the waterfront near Old Sacramento faces west and glows at sunset — it's one of the most reliable spots in the city for warm, cinematic portraits.
Sacramento photographs well year-round. Spring (March–May) brings blooming trees and warm light along the American River Parkway and Capitol Park. Fall (October–November) offers golden foliage at Land Park and along the river. Summer works if you shoot during the golden hour window — the hour before sunset — to avoid harsh midday heat. Winter light is soft and underrated.
Most locations are centrally accessible. Capitol Mall, Old Sacramento, and Tower Bridge all have nearby public parking lots off 3rd Street and Front Street. Land Park offers free street parking along Freeport Boulevard. Midtown is best reached via street parking near 19th and 20th streets. Angie will share exact meeting point details after booking.
