Weddings photography in Natomas
Small weddings deserve the same level of attention as grand affairs — often more. In Natomas, ceremonies set against lakeside paths, open meadows, river confluences, and clean modern park landscapes feel effortlessly beautiful. Angie's approach is quiet and observational: she moves through the day capturing candid moments, honest emotions, and the small details that make your wedding yours. The Sacramento County light does the rest — especially during sunset when the regional park lake reflects the sky and the wide-open fields go golden from edge to edge, when portraits take on that warm, cinematic quality. With 4-6 hours of documentary-style coverage, every phase is documented: getting ready, first look, ceremony, reception, and golden-hour portraits near North Natomas Regional Park, Discovery Park, and the Sacramento River levee trail. A pre-wedding call helps plan the timeline so nothing important slips through. Parking at free parking at North Natomas Regional Park and Discovery Park keeps arrival easy for everyone. The complete gallery of 200-400 images arrives in 4-6 weeks, and couples often say the photos helped them see moments they were too present to notice.
What is small weddings?
Small wedding photography is documentary-style coverage of intimate ceremonies and celebrations with fewer than 50 guests, including courthouse elopements, backyard weddings, and micro-weddings at Northern California venues. Captured By Angie provides 4-6 hours of coverage capturing every phase of the day — getting-ready details, ceremony emotions, reception candids, and golden-hour portraits. A pre-wedding planning call ensures the timeline accounts for key moments like the first look, vows, first dance, and toasts. Popular Sacramento-area venues include Vizcaya in midtown, winery estates in Lodi, foothill barns in Placerville, and the Sacramento County Courthouse for elopements. Deliverables include 200-400 individually edited images with a 4-6 week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. Photographer Angie Shvaya takes a quiet, observational approach, moving through the day without interrupting it so couples can stay fully present with their guests. Coverage extends throughout Sacramento and Northern California, from downtown venues to Gold Country estates.

Small Weddings FAQ
Generally under 50 guests, but there is no strict cutoff. Elopements with just the two of you, courthouse ceremonies with a handful of witnesses, backyard parties with 40 friends — all of these fall into the intimate wedding category. The approach is documentary: I capture the day as it unfolds.
Yes — Sacramento County Courthouse weddings are some of my favorites. They are quick, emotional, and real. I typically cover 1-2 hours for a courthouse ceremony plus portraits nearby. Tower Bridge and Capitol Park are a short walk away for golden-hour photos afterward.
I have shot at venues throughout Sacramento and Northern California — from Vizcaya in midtown to winery estates in Lodi and foothill barns in Placerville. I am happy to share recommendations based on your guest count, budget, and style. Just ask during our planning call.
Your call. I personally love first looks because they create an intimate, private moment and take pressure off the ceremony. But if you prefer to see each other for the first time at the altar, we will build the timeline around that. Either way, you get both candid and portrait-style images.
About photography in Natomas
North Natomas Regional Park offers wide paths, open meadows, and a scenic lake that catches beautiful sunset reflections. The park landscaping and clean lines work well for contemporary portrait styles. Discovery Park at the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers provides dramatic river views and mature tree canopy for a more natural setting.
Spring brings green grass and wildflowers to Natomas parks from March through May. Fall offers golden afternoon light and comfortable temperatures from October through November. Summer golden hour works well at the parks since the wide-open spaces catch light beautifully in the final hour before sunset.
Natomas is just 10–15 minutes north of downtown Sacramento via Interstate 5 or Interstate 80. It is one of the most convenient session locations in the Sacramento area with ample free parking at all parks.
