Sports photography in Rocklin
Your season is worth more than a phone photo from the stands, and Rocklin gives you the backdrop to prove it. Angie shoots senior athlete portraits and action at local fields, courts, and tracks, using granite outcrops, shaded creekside trails, and rolling Placer County hills and the warm light of the final hour of daylight when granite quarry walls glow warm amber and trails soften in shadow to build a gallery that captures both the polish and the grit of your sport. Sessions start at free parking at Johnson-Springview Park and along Rocklin Road near the quarries and run 45-60 minutes, mixing clean uniform portraits with real movement — she shoots fast to freeze the moment and directs posed action so the framing lands every time. Bring your jersey, your gear, and a casual or letterman look. Teammates, parents, or a sibling in the same sport are welcome for a few frames at the end. The delivered gallery of 30-50 edited images arrives in 1-2 weeks, and local breweries and eateries in Rocklin's Pacific Street corridor are close for a celebration after. Book 3-4 weeks out, earlier for senior night and playoffs.
What is sports photography?
Sports photography is a portrait and action session for athletes — high school and college senior athlete portraits, individual player headshots in uniform, and game-day or practice action coverage. Captured By Angie offers 60-minute senior athlete sessions and team/game-day coverage at Sacramento-area venues including school stadiums, ball fields, gyms, tracks, and courts, plus outdoor locations for lifestyle-style athlete portraits. Individual sessions mix posed uniform portraits with dynamic action frames — dribbling, swinging, sprinting, or sport-specific movement — and can include letterman jackets, gear, and personal touches like jersey numbers. Sessions are timed around golden hour when possible for warm, directional light, and Angie brings 5+ years of experience with fast shutter work to freeze motion cleanly. Deliverables for a senior athlete session are 30-50 individually edited images with a 1-2 week turnaround through a private online gallery; team and game-day coverage scales with the length of the event. Sports sessions are ideal for graduating senior athletes, club and travel-team players, and parents who want portraits that hold up printed large. Booking is recommended 3-4 weeks in advance, and earlier for senior-night and playoff dates.

Sports Photography FAQ
Both. Most bookings are individual senior athletes who want uniform portraits plus a set of action shots. But I also cover teams and clubs — individual player portraits plus live coverage of a game or practice. If you are organizing team photos, reach out and we will build a plan that fits your roster and schedule.
That is the goal. Shooting at your home field, court, or track makes the portraits feel like yours — not a generic backdrop. I know a lot of the Sacramento-area venues already, and if yours is new to me I will scout the light ahead of time. Just check whether your school or club needs access cleared in advance.
Fast shutter speeds and knowing the sport well enough to anticipate the moment. For posed action I will have you repeat a move — a swing, a jump, a drive to the basket — so we nail the framing and the peak of the motion. For live game coverage I track the play and shoot in bursts to catch the frames that matter.
Three to four weeks ahead is ideal, and earlier for senior-night and playoff windows since those dates cluster and fill fast. If you want golden-hour light at the field, we will schedule around your practice and game calendar so the session does not collide with your season.
About photography in Rocklin
Johnson-Springview Park is the most versatile location — open lawns, shaded creek paths, and open sky work for family sessions, graduation portraits, and engagement photos alike. Rocklin's historic granite quarry walls are unique to this area and create a dramatic, textured backdrop that stands out from typical Northern California sessions. The shaded creekside trails offer soft, even light for midday shooting.
The final hour before sunset is the best window in Rocklin — the granite quarry walls glow warm amber and the park trails soften in shadow. Spring brings green hillsides and blooming wildflowers. Fall adds golden tones to the oak canopy throughout the park. Rocklin's elevation keeps summers slightly cooler than Sacramento, making evening sessions more comfortable.
Rocklin is about 25 miles northeast of Sacramento, roughly 30–40 minutes via Interstate 80. Angie covers Rocklin and the surrounding Placer County area regularly without a travel fee.
