That is completely normal and honestly some of my favorite images come from it. I never force kids to sit still and smile. We play games, explore, and let them do their thing. The result is photos that actually look like your family: not stiff, staged portraits where everyone looks uncomfortable.

Fall is the most popular: October and November give you golden light and gorgeous foliage at places like William Land Park and the American River Parkway. Of course. I love multigenerational sessions. We will start with the full group, then break into smaller combinations: grandparents with grandkids, siblings together, your immediate family. It adds about 15 minutes to the session, and those images become some of the most treasured ones in the gallery.
