Portrait Sessions in El Dorado Hills, CA — Captured By Angie
About This Session

Portraits photography in El Dorado Hills

For anyone in El Dorado Hills who wants photos that actually look like them — not a stiff studio portrait — these sessions trade the backdrop for sweeping oak-covered hillsides, valley views, and golden-hour ridgelines and natural light across El Dorado County. Come solo, bring a friend, or bring your partner. The session adapts. Angie meets you at free parking at Town Center and trailhead lots along the El Dorado Trail and spends 45-60 minutes shooting during the golden hour when the foothills catch directional light and oak shadows stretch across the grass, guiding you through natural movement and real expressions. No awkward posing. Just a relaxed session in a beautiful setting. Bring 1-2 outfits — she will help you decide what works best in the environment. The delivered gallery of 20-40 images arrives in 1-2 weeks, edited with a light, natural touch. Town Center shops and restaurants for families who want to grab dinner after the session are nearby for a post-session coffee or bite.

What is portrait sessions?

Portrait session photography captures individuals, duos, and small groups in natural outdoor settings — fields, parks, urban backdrops, and scenic locations throughout Sacramento and Northern California. Captured By Angie offers 45-60 minute portrait sessions on location, using natural light and real environments to create relaxed, editorial-quality imagery. Sessions work for solo portraits, best friend shoots, couple portraits, milestone celebrations, social media content, and creative projects. Deliverables include 20-40 individually edited images with a 1-2 week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. The approach is guided but not posed — Angie provides direction on movement, placement, and expression while keeping the session relaxed and natural. Retouching is minimal, preserving skin texture and genuine expressions. Photographer Angie Shvaya shoots at locations throughout Sacramento, including open fields, tree-lined paths, downtown architecture, and riverfront settings, selecting backdrops that match each client's vision and personality.

Common Questions

Portrait Sessions FAQ

Wear something you feel great in. Earth tones, soft neutrals, and muted colors photograph beautifully outdoors. Avoid busy logos and neon. If you are coming with someone else, coordinate tones without matching exactly. Bring a second outfit if you want variety — I send a style guide after booking.

Yes. Portrait sessions work for solo, duos, and small groups. Whether it is you and your best friend, you and your partner, or a group of three — the session adapts. Larger groups work better as a family or event session.

Between 20 and 40 fully edited images from a standard session. You will have plenty for social media, printing, and saving. Every image in the gallery is polished and ready to use.

Anywhere with good light and a backdrop that fits your vibe. Open fields, tree-lined paths, downtown Sacramento architecture, the American River Parkway — I will recommend locations based on what you are going for. I know the best spots across the Sacramento area.

Local Info

About photography in El Dorado Hills

The open oak-covered hillsides throughout El Dorado Hills create sweeping natural backdrops that are hard to find anywhere else in the Sacramento metro. Town Center Plaza offers a polished, walkable setting with retail architecture for headshots and small group sessions. The El Dorado Trail and Folsom Lake access points to the south add dramatic water and ridgeline views. Golden hour hits the foothill oak shadows at a low, directional angle that is genuinely beautiful.

Spring and fall are both outstanding. Spring (March–April) turns the hillsides green with wildflowers scattered through the oaks. Fall (October–November) shifts those same hills to gold and amber — the color payoff in the foothills is more dramatic than the valley floor. Summer evenings still work well when the golden hour light comes in low across the ridgelines.

El Dorado Hills is about 25–30 miles east of Sacramento, typically 30–40 minutes via US-50. Angie covers El Dorado County and does not charge a travel fee for El Dorado Hills sessions.
