Graduation photography in El Dorado Hills
Graduation portraits in El Dorado Hills go beyond the standard pose-and-smile. With locations like Town Center Plaza, Folsom Lake access points, and the El Dorado Trail within easy reach, each session is tailored to the graduate's personality and story. El Dorado County's natural light — especially during the golden hour when the foothills catch directional light and oak shadows stretch across the grass — adds a warm, cinematic quality that makes these portraits timeless. Angie guides graduates through a relaxed session that mixes traditional cap-and-gown frames with casual, personality-driven portraits that feel more like a lifestyle shoot than a formal sitting. Most sessions start from free parking at Town Center and trailhead lots along the El Dorado Trail, and the 60-minute shoot covers multiple locations within walking distance. Families and friends are welcome to jump in for a few frames at the end. When the session wraps, Town Center shops and restaurants for families who want to grab dinner after the session are close by for anyone who wants to keep celebrating the milestone.
What is graduation photos?
Graduation photography is a portrait session celebrating academic milestones — high school senior portraits, college graduation photos, and post-ceremony celebrations. Captured By Angie offers 60-minute graduation sessions at iconic Sacramento landmarks including the Capitol building, Tower Bridge, UC Davis Arboretum, and Sacramento State campus. Each session includes 2-3 outfit changes, mixing cap and gown with casual looks, and is timed around golden hour for warm, cinematic natural light. Sessions are ideal for high school seniors, college graduates, and anyone marking an academic achievement in the Sacramento area. Deliverables include 40-60 individually edited images with a 2-week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. Photographer Angie Shvaya brings 5+ years of experience and deep knowledge of Northern California's best shooting locations, from campus courtyards to river trails. Booking is recommended 4-6 weeks in advance, especially for popular spring dates from March through May.

Graduation Photos FAQ
Spring is the most popular — March through May — because the light is warm and campus is in full bloom. But Sacramento has great shooting conditions almost year-round. If you want fall foliage or summer golden hour, those work too. Just book early for spring dates since they fill fast.
Yes, and I recommend it. Most grads bring a cap & gown look plus one or two casual outfits. We will plan quick change spots at your location so transitions feel seamless. Three outfits is the sweet spot for a 60-minute session.
All the time. I know both campuses well — the best light spots at the UC Davis Arboretum, the iconic Sac State library steps, and plenty of less-crowded corners most people walk right past. I also shoot at Sierra College, ARC, and other local campuses.
Four to six weeks is ideal, especially for spring sessions. If you are a planner, booking two to three months out guarantees your preferred date. Last-minute sessions happen when my schedule allows, but the best golden-hour time slots go first.
About photography in El Dorado Hills
The open oak-covered hillsides throughout El Dorado Hills create sweeping natural backdrops that are hard to find anywhere else in the Sacramento metro. Town Center Plaza offers a polished, walkable setting with retail architecture for headshots and small group sessions. The El Dorado Trail and Folsom Lake access points to the south add dramatic water and ridgeline views. Golden hour hits the foothill oak shadows at a low, directional angle that is genuinely beautiful.
Spring and fall are both outstanding. Spring (March–April) turns the hillsides green with wildflowers scattered through the oaks. Fall (October–November) shifts those same hills to gold and amber — the color payoff in the foothills is more dramatic than the valley floor. Summer evenings still work well when the golden hour light comes in low across the ridgelines.
El Dorado Hills is about 25–30 miles east of Sacramento, typically 30–40 minutes via US-50. Angie covers El Dorado County and does not charge a travel fee for El Dorado Hills sessions.
