Graduation photography in Loomis
Loomis is home to graduates celebrating milestones at every level, and the local scenery provides a meaningful backdrop for their achievement. Sessions near the Blue Goose Fruit Shed, local orchards, and Loomis Basin trails capture that sense of accomplishment in a setting that feels personal — not a generic studio backdrop, but a place that was part of the journey. The best time to shoot here is mid-afternoon through golden hour when orchard rows create layered light and wildflowers glow warm, when the light wraps around the graduate and everything looks cinematic. Angie typically meets clients at roadside parking near the Blue Goose and trail access points along the Loomis Basin, and from there the session is a relaxed walk through the area's most photogenic spots. Whether you walked the stage last week or want to mark the moment at your own pace, cap-and-gown formals mixed with casual outfit changes tell the full story of who you are right now. Afterward, many grads head to the Blue Goose Fruit Shed and local farm stands for a uniquely Loomis pre-session stop to celebrate — still riding the high from the session.
What is graduation photos?
Graduation photography is a portrait session celebrating academic milestones — high school senior portraits, college graduation photos, and post-ceremony celebrations. Captured By Angie offers 60-minute graduation sessions at iconic Sacramento landmarks including the Capitol building, Tower Bridge, UC Davis Arboretum, and Sacramento State campus. Each session includes 2-3 outfit changes, mixing cap and gown with casual looks, and is timed around golden hour for warm, cinematic natural light. Sessions are ideal for high school seniors, college graduates, and anyone marking an academic achievement in the Sacramento area. Deliverables include 40-60 individually edited images with a 2-week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. Photographer Angie Shvaya brings 5+ years of experience and deep knowledge of Northern California's best shooting locations, from campus courtyards to river trails. Booking is recommended 4-6 weeks in advance, especially for popular spring dates from March through May.

Graduation Photos FAQ
Spring is the most popular — March through May — because the light is warm and campus is in full bloom. But Sacramento has great shooting conditions almost year-round. If you want fall foliage or summer golden hour, those work too. Just book early for spring dates since they fill fast.
Yes, and I recommend it. Most grads bring a cap & gown look plus one or two casual outfits. We will plan quick change spots at your location so transitions feel seamless. Three outfits is the sweet spot for a 60-minute session.
All the time. I know both campuses well — the best light spots at the UC Davis Arboretum, the iconic Sac State library steps, and plenty of less-crowded corners most people walk right past. I also shoot at Sierra College, ARC, and other local campuses.
Four to six weeks is ideal, especially for spring sessions. If you are a planner, booking two to three months out guarantees your preferred date. Last-minute sessions happen when my schedule allows, but the best golden-hour time slots go first.
About photography in Loomis
The Blue Goose Fruit Shed district and surrounding orchards are the most distinctive locations in Loomis — orchard rows create layered depth and dappled light that is impossible to find in more suburban areas. The Loomis Basin trails wind through foothill wildflowers and oak canopies. In spring, fruit tree blossoms add a soft, seasonal backdrop that brings clients from across the Sacramento region specifically for that setting.
Spring is Loomis at its absolute best — February through April brings fruit tree blossoms in the orchards and wildflowers through the foothill fields. The light through orchard canopies is exceptionally soft during this window. Fall adds golden oak tones. Mid-afternoon through golden hour year-round produces that layered, warm orchard light that makes Loomis sessions distinctive.
Loomis is about 30 miles northeast of Sacramento, typically 35–45 minutes via Interstate 80. Angie covers the Loomis Basin and will confirm any applicable travel details when you book a session here.
