Weddings photography in Granite Bay
For couples choosing an intimate celebration in Granite Bay, the focus is on what matters most — each other and the people you love. Locations near Folsom Lake's Granite Bay shoreline, local equestrian estates, and Quarry Trail offer granite-boulder shoreline, rolling oak hillsides, and estate-lined country roads that photographs beautifully from ceremony through golden hour. Coverage is documentary-style: real moments, real emotions, no interruptions. Just your day, told honestly. Angie plans around the golden hour when Folsom Lake's surface turns amber and the granite shoreline glows warm in low-angle light for the portrait portion, while ceremony and reception coverage follows your timeline. The pre-wedding planning call maps key moments — first look, vows, first dance, toasts — so the 4-6 hours of coverage are spent where they matter most. Logistics are simple: paid parking at Granite Bay Beach (Folsom Lake SRA) and roadside access near local trailheads works for the wedding party and guests. The final gallery of 200-400 edited images arrives in 4-6 weeks. Many Granite Bay couples also visit Douglas Boulevard restaurants and wine bars for a polished post-session evening for rehearsal dinners or pre-wedding meetups.
What is small weddings?
Small wedding photography is documentary-style coverage of intimate ceremonies and celebrations with fewer than 50 guests, including courthouse elopements, backyard weddings, and micro-weddings at Northern California venues. Captured By Angie provides 4-6 hours of coverage capturing every phase of the day — getting-ready details, ceremony emotions, reception candids, and golden-hour portraits. A pre-wedding planning call ensures the timeline accounts for key moments like the first look, vows, first dance, and toasts. Popular Sacramento-area venues include Vizcaya in midtown, winery estates in Lodi, foothill barns in Placerville, and the Sacramento County Courthouse for elopements. Deliverables include 200-400 individually edited images with a 4-6 week turnaround, delivered through a private online gallery. Photographer Angie Shvaya takes a quiet, observational approach, moving through the day without interrupting it so couples can stay fully present with their guests. Coverage extends throughout Sacramento and Northern California, from downtown venues to Gold Country estates.

Small Weddings FAQ
Generally under 50 guests, but there is no strict cutoff. Elopements with just the two of you, courthouse ceremonies with a handful of witnesses, backyard parties with 40 friends — all of these fall into the intimate wedding category. The approach is documentary: I capture the day as it unfolds.
Yes — Sacramento County Courthouse weddings are some of my favorites. They are quick, emotional, and real. I typically cover 1-2 hours for a courthouse ceremony plus portraits nearby. Tower Bridge and Capitol Park are a short walk away for golden-hour photos afterward.
I have shot at venues throughout Sacramento and Northern California — from Vizcaya in midtown to winery estates in Lodi and foothill barns in Placerville. I am happy to share recommendations based on your guest count, budget, and style. Just ask during our planning call.
Your call. I personally love first looks because they create an intimate, private moment and take pressure off the ceremony. But if you prefer to see each other for the first time at the altar, we will build the timeline around that. Either way, you get both candid and portrait-style images.
About photography in Granite Bay
Folsom Lake's Granite Bay beach and shoreline are the signature backdrop — water, granite boulders, and oak-covered hills create a dramatic setting especially at sunset. The area's equestrian properties and rural roads lined with heritage oaks offer an elegant, estate-like feel. Quarry Trail and local open spaces provide wooded paths and wildflower meadows in spring.
Spring is stunning when the hills are green and Folsom Lake is full — the shoreline is expansive and wildflowers bloom along the trails. Fall brings golden foliage and warm afternoon light across the rolling terrain. Summer works for lakeside sunset sessions when the evening breeze comes off the water.
Granite Bay is about 25 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento, roughly 30–35 minutes via Interstate 80 and Douglas Boulevard. Angie covers the Granite Bay and Placer County area and does not charge a travel fee for this location.
