About This Session

Graduation photography in Granite Bay

Celebrating a graduation in Granite Bay? The area offers granite-boulder shoreline, rolling oak hillsides, and estate-lined country roads as a stunning canvas for your milestone portraits. From cap-and-gown shots near Folsom Lake's Granite Bay shoreline, local equestrian estates, and Quarry Trail to relaxed lifestyle frames that capture who you are right now, every session is designed around the graduate. No stiff posing — just real moments and beautiful light during the golden hour when Folsom Lake's surface turns amber and the granite shoreline glows warm in low-angle light. Angie knows Granite Bay well and selects spots that match your style, whether you want something polished and urban or natural and open. Logistics are straightforward: meet at paid parking at Granite Bay Beach (Folsom Lake SRA) and roadside access near local trailheads, spend an hour shooting through 2-3 outfits, and wrap up with 40-60 edited images delivered in about two weeks. Many graduates bring parents or best friends along and grab food afterward at Douglas Boulevard restaurants and wine bars for a polished post-session evening — it turns the whole thing into an experience, not just a photo session.

Common Questions

Graduation Photos FAQ

Spring is the most popular — March through May — because the light is warm and campus is in full bloom. But Sacramento has great shooting conditions almost year-round. If you want fall foliage or summer golden hour, those work too. Just book early for spring dates since they fill fast.

Yes, and I recommend it. Most grads bring a cap & gown look plus one or two casual outfits. We will plan quick change spots at your location so transitions feel seamless. Three outfits is the sweet spot for a 60-minute session.

All the time. I know both campuses well — the best light spots at the UC Davis Arboretum, the iconic Sac State library steps, and plenty of less-crowded corners most people walk right past. I also shoot at Sierra College, ARC, and other local campuses.

Four to six weeks is ideal, especially for spring sessions. If you are a planner, booking two to three months out guarantees your preferred date. Last-minute sessions happen when my schedule allows, but the best golden-hour time slots go first.

Local Info

About photography in Granite Bay

Folsom Lake's Granite Bay beach and shoreline are the signature backdrop — water, granite boulders, and oak-covered hills create a dramatic setting especially at sunset. The area's equestrian properties and rural roads lined with heritage oaks offer an elegant, estate-like feel. Quarry Trail and local open spaces provide wooded paths and wildflower meadows in spring.

Spring is stunning when the hills are green and Folsom Lake is full — the shoreline is expansive and wildflowers bloom along the trails. Fall brings golden foliage and warm afternoon light across the rolling terrain. Summer works for lakeside sunset sessions when the evening breeze comes off the water.

Granite Bay is about 25 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento, roughly 30–35 minutes via Interstate 80 and Douglas Boulevard. Angie covers the Granite Bay and Placer County area and does not charge a travel fee for this location.
