Athletes meet at campus visitor parking and free spots on residential streets near the Arboretum and spend 45-60 minutes moving through posed and action setups, shooting fast enough to catch the swing, the jump, or the drive at its peak. Uniform first, then a casual or letterman look. The finished gallery of 30-50 individually edited images arrives in 1-2 weeks, built to look sharp printed large. Bonus: downtown Davis coffee shops and the farmers market for a laid-back pre-session vibe are an easy post-session stop for the team or family.

Deliverables for a senior athlete session are 30-50 individually edited images with a 1-2 week turnaround through a private online gallery; team and game-day coverage scales with the length of the event. Sports sessions are ideal for graduating senior athletes, club and travel-team players, and parents who want portraits that hold up printed large. Booking is recommended 3-4 weeks in advance, and earlier for senior-night and playoff dates.

Both. Most bookings are individual senior athletes who want uniform portraits plus a set of action shots. But I also cover teams and clubs — individual player portraits plus live coverage of a game or practice. If you are organizing team photos, reach out and we will build a plan that fits your roster and schedule.
That is the goal. Shooting at your home field, court, or track makes the portraits feel like yours — not a generic backdrop. I know a lot of the Sacramento-area venues already, and if yours is new to me I will scout the light ahead of time. Just check whether your school or club needs access cleared in advance.
Fast shutter speeds and knowing the sport well enough to anticipate the moment. For posed action I will have you repeat a move — a swing, a jump, a drive to the basket — so we nail the framing and the peak of the motion. For live game coverage I track the play and shoot in bursts to catch the frames that matter.
Three to four weeks ahead is ideal, and earlier for senior-night and playoff windows since those dates cluster and fill fast. If you want golden-hour light at the field, we will schedule around your practice and game calendar so the session does not collide with your season.
About photography in Davis
The UC Davis Arboretum is the standout location — tree-canopied pathways along Putah Creek create soft, dappled light that works beautifully for portraits at almost any time of day. The campus quad and library lawn are popular for graduation sessions with UC Davis students. Downtown Davis murals add color and character for more urban editorial looks.
